BiodivERsA project ECOSERVE first annual meeting | 19 researchers attended this meeting held by CFE

CFE was the host of the 1st annual meeting of the BiodivERsA project ECOSERVE that took place at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Coimbra on the 11 and 12 of February. 19 researchers from the different institutions involved in the project attended this meeting.

The BiodivERsA project ECOSERVE (Sustainable provisioning of multiple ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes) is a collaboration between the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE) with colleagues from the University of Wageningen (The Netherlands), University Joseph Fourier (France), University Rey Juan Carlos (Spain), Lund University (Sweden) and The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture - FIBL (Switzerland).

Are agricultural systems resistant and resilient to climate change, and which agricultural practices can farmers adopt to increase the resilience of their systems and maintain productivity under these changing scenarios are the main questions they aim to resolve.

By assessing the intricate relationships between plants, microorganisms and soil invertebrates, following a trait-based approach, this project aims at producing a package of "ready to use" recommendations for a wide range of stakeholders at EU and local level in order to increase water and nutrient use efficiency in agricultural and agro-forestry system under climate change.
