On July 1, 2021, at 5:30 pm, the event "Cycle of International Conferences - Societies and Environmental Sustainability" will take place. Aimed at the general public and, in particular, those interested in the relationship between Nature, Culture, Environment and Art, the event has the participation of anthropologist Conceição Cano (ABA - Brazilian Association of Anthropology) with the presentation “The dynamic socioeconomics in Arte Xávega”; and by the landscape artist, documentarist and sound archivist Luís Antero (Sounds de Alvoco/Green Field Recordings), with the presentation "Paisagens Sonoras da Arte Xávega".

The moderation of the session will be in charge of Fátima Alves (Open University/CFE – Functional Ecology Center, University of Coimbra) and Cristina Sá Valentim (CFE – Functional Ecology Center, University of Coimbra/INET-md).

The event is coordinated by Fátima Alves and Cristina Sá Valentim. It also has the support of the extension of the CFE-UC at Universidade Aberta (Uab) (research line "Societies and Environmental Sustainability") and the Masters in Intercultural Relations and Masters in Environmental Citizenship and Participation at UAb.

The second session of the cycle "Looking for Land in the 21st century - challenges of climate change and migration" will take place on the 27th of April, at 11 am, where the impact of climate change in Timor-Leste will be addressed.

The speaker at the event will be Eugenio Lemos, founder and executive director of Permakultura Timor Lorosae (PERMATIL), with the presentation entitled "Local Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Drought-Prone Areas in Timor-Leste".
