World Environment Day 2024
In 1972, the United Nations Conference on Human Development and the Environment was the first major international meeting with representatives from different nations where environmental problems were discussed.
Held in Stockholm (Sweden), the first day of the Conference was marked by the designation of June 5th by the United Nations General Assembly as World Environment Day. Since then, every year, this day has been celebrated for environmental and climate action and the power of governments, companies, and people to promote a more sustainable world.
This year, 2024, World Environment Day's theme is accelerating land restoration and resilience to drought and desertification. Celebrations on this day aim to drive global action to meet goals of restoring large portions of the soil, protecting nature and slowing climate change, and leading to increased livelihoods and food security for billions of people worldwide. We are the #GenerationRestoration, we cannot turn back time, but we can make forests grow, rehabilitate water availability and contribute to soil recovery for present and future generations.
