History, Territories, Communities

PI

Fernanda Rollo

Dedicated to research training and the promotion of experimental projects, the History, Territories and Communities Laboratory is a space for learning, experimentation, innovation and knowledge sharing.

It counts on the collaboration and monitoring of a vast and diverse group of researchers from History, Territories and Communities, a CFE hub, at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (HTC CFE NOVA FCSH), specialists in the different areas of knowledge related to History; comprises the fields of industrial archeology and underwater archaeology, documentary sciences, information and geographic representation systems, digital humanities, oral history, science communication and the dissemination of content in printed or digital format, museology and various areas related to cultural heritage in general, in short, everything that has to do with History, Heritage and Memory.

Its activity includes introductory programs to historical research and various initiatives aimed at testing new research practices, stimulating the development of research skills (both in terms of information literacy and in terms of its problematization and interpretation) and carrying out projects whose mission is to involve academia and society in general and promote knowledge and historical culture.

This space is intended for society in general. It is open to the participation of researchers in all areas of knowledge who would like to test new practices and methodologies and experiment with innovative projects involving historical research practices; it is open to the school community at different levels of education, creating opportunities for learning and monitoring historical research practices and methodologies; is open to collaboration with public or private institutions that pursue the same purposes of promotion, learning and experimentation essential to historiographical activity. In short, it is a laboratory designed to ‘experiment’ and ‘do’ History.

The History, Territories and Communities Laboratory constitutes a privileged means of extending training and practical learning of historiographic activity within society and a fundamental bridge for sharing and extending knowledge.
