Join us for the Mountains for Sustainability Workshop, where we will explore the beauty and challenges of the Serra da Estrela mountains, home to the highest peak in mainland Portugal and one of its most treasured natural landscapes. This Workshop focuses on mountain conservation and the intersection of culture, sustainability, and climate resilience. We invite researchers, practitioners, students, activists, and local residents to share their expertise, ideas, and projects related to mountain ecosystems.

Mountain ecosystems are vital, covering 22% of Earth’s surface and housing half of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. In the Serra da Estrela, you’ll engage in activities such as curated nature trails, community engagement with local traditions, and discussions on how to protect these ecosystems from the impacts of climate change.
