Experiência
I am a physical geographer and GIS specialist with a strong focus on species distribution modelling and its applications to conservation and spatial planning. I completed my PhD in Ecology at the University of Coimbra in 2022, co-supervised by the University of Exeter (UK), following a BSc in Physical Geography (2014) and an MSc in Geographical Information Technologies (2016).
My research uses seabirds as sentinels of global environmental change, addressing topics such as at-sea behaviour, fisheries bycatch, climate change impacts, marine conservation, and animal tracking. More recently, I have expanded my research scope to include extreme climatic events, cross-ecosystem comparisons, and integrative interdisciplinary approaches (e.g. integrating movement ecology and physiology), with a focus on regional- to global-scale perspectives.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the CFE-UC, investigating how combined environmental and anthropogenic pressures shape seabirds’ foraging behaviour, energetics, physiology, and reproductive performance.
