Experiência

I’m an Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Coimbra and a researcher at the Centre for Functional Ecology where I coordinate the Community Ecology Lab. My main research interests centre around the use of species interaction networks to frame important conservation problems at the community level with an emphasis on seed dispersal, defaunation, biotic invasions, ecological restoration, and island biogeography. I’ve participated in c. 20 research projects in the Galápagos, Azores, Gorongosa, São Tomé, Seychelles, France, Germany, UK, Spain, and Portugal, which resulted in over 100 scientific publications, some of which in leading multidisciplinary journals. Throughout the years I’ve served on several national and international steering committees, evaluation panels and editorial boards, having had the pleasure of teaching new cohorts of ecologists and coordinating the Master’s in Ecology of the University of Coimbra.
