Experiência

I hold a PhD in Ecology from the University of Murcia and conducted postdoctoral research at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), focusing on island ecosystems and trophic networks.

My research investigates the structure, dynamics, and vulnerability of insular trophic webs under global change, testing ecological restoration through the lens of multilayer network approaches. I work across islands spanning tropical, subtropical, temperate, and polar regions, identifying general patterns in network organization and ecosystem responses to environmental disturbance.

I have led the Spanish team of an ERC Advanced Grant and coordinated international research projects, including field campaigns in remote island systems. I collaborate with governmental agencies, National Parks, and local communities to support science-based conservation actions.

Alongside research, I have taught for 11 academic years in an official Master’s programme at the University of Murcia and, more recently, in the Biology degree at the University of Granada, supervising 3 BSc, 8 MSc, and currently 3 PhD theses.

I have authored 49 peer-reviewed publications and actively promote open science.

My academic trajectory has been recognized through competitive awards, including a Formative R&D&I Fellowship (2006, Fundación Empresa-Universidad de La Laguna), a Leonardo da Vinci Fellowship (2006, University of Salamanca), a Juan de la Cierva Formación Fellowship (2014, Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation), two Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Seals of Excellence (2017 and 2018, European Commission), and a Vicenç Mut Postdoctoral Contract (2020, Government of the Balearic Islands).
