Annual meeting of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea
The annual meeting of the Working Group on the Value of Coastal Habitats for Exploited Species of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES - WGVHES) took place between 17 and 21 June at the Department of Life Sciences of the FCTUC.
The main topics discussed at this meeting were a review of the methods used to assess essential habitats for juvenile fish, a review of the use of the Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) concept for resource management and conservation, and the impacts of global change on the nursery function for marine fish in coastal areas.
Filipe Martinho, a member of the Marine Research Lab - Centre for Functional Ecology and ICES, hosted the meeting, which was attended by experts from the United States of America, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Portugal.
