International Day for Biological Diversity 2024 - Be part of the plan!
The United Nations established International Day for Biological Diversity on May 22, 1992, to celebrate the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
This date is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of preserving biological diversity to balance ecosystems and promote a sustainable future in harmony with nature.
In 2024, under the theme “Be part of the plan”, we call for collective action from all people and stakeholders to halt biodiversity loss, supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Agreement, also known as the Biodiversity Plan. And because we all have a role and can be part of the Plan, we invite the UNESCO Community and in particular UNESCO associated Schools to celebrate this International Biodiversity Day with Biosphere Reserves and participate in the Terra Challenge.
