The conference program is now available.

The registration, preservation and sharing of individual and collective memory play an indisputable role in the dissemination and acknowledgement of material and immaterial heritage of territories and communities. Many of these efforts, developed in close association with public institutions, private initiatives, or local associations, and always considering the local and regional specificities, capture the characteristics of territories, their landscapes, resources, and ecosystems, in their intrinsic relationship with people and communities, past and present. Therefore, they make room for important reflections on contemporary challenges, such as the preservation and recognition of natural and cultural heritage and the overcoming of geographic and social asymmetries, taking in mind a global commitment for sustainability.

Simultaneously, important challenges continue to impose themselves in terms of safeguarding and democratizing this knowledge, through the accessibility and adoption of digital tools and technological means to organize and preserve the memories collected, from recording to data storage, as well as their preservation until they become available for the general public.

The 4th Memory for All Conference seeks to reflect on the role of memory (individual and collective) in the promotion of strategies for sustainability of the territory and in the recognition and protection of historical, natural, and cultural heritage. It also focuses on the processes of memory recording and the impact that information technologies have on these practices. Therefore, we welcome contributions from various disciplinary areas such as history, anthropology, documentary sciences, museology, heritage sciences, communication sciences and digital humanities.

The 4th Memory for All Conference is organized by History, Territories, Communities, a Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet hub at the NOVA FCSH.
