The VIII Local History Congress aims to accompany and stimulate the ongoing historiographical renewal. It continues the purposes and dynamics that started in 2017, providing a space for dissemination, sharing, and problematization for all those dedicated to this branch of historiography in permanent dialogue with national and international historiography.

As in previous editions, the meeting aims to provide a privileged context for reflecting on local history's concepts, methodologies, and practices; by extension, it constitutes an opportunity to exchange experiences.

Likewise, the principles underlying the congress's organisation encourage the intervention of final-year undergraduate and first-year master's students to obtain their first academic experiences.

The 2024 meeting, organised by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, will be hosted by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão in partnership with the educational and cultural project “From Famalicão to the World: Contributions of Local History”.

Following the model of previous events, this edition will feature a panel exclusively dedicated to the History of this municipality. Historians, teachers, researchers and other regional scholars are invited to submit communications.
